A traditional dessert like apple crumble and custard is offered as well as fresh fruit, cheese and biscuits or yoghurt.

We also offer a range of sandwiches as an alternative to the main course.

Indeed from September 2006 all ISS Education menus have been designed to comply with the Food Based Standards as determined by the School Food Trust.

We are one of the first commercial organisations to invest in NUTMEG (Nutritional Analysis Software). We use this computer programme to plan all our menus to ensure an appropriate balance of nutrients. As a result our menus meet the new Government standards in full.

At ISS Education we recognise the need to work together with schools, parents and officers of the various Councils to change our children’s

patterns of eating so that they can look forward to a healthy future.

Children are safe at school sharing lunch with their friends. It is a fact that children will enjoy and achieve their time at school more positively if they are adequately nourished. The school meal can play a vital role in enabling children to achieve their potential. Children are better able to achieve their physical and emotional potential via a combination of healthy food and participation in sports and other physical activities.

Health experts agree that the future wellbeing of today’s generation of children is dependent on radical changes to their eating habits. By opting for an ISS Education school lunch for their children, parents will be making a positive contribution towards their children’s future health.

Recent changes in compulsory government requirements

Starting in September 2006, a new set of compulsory minimum nutritional standards has been introduced.

ISS Education's response to the new requirements:

"...We fully support the Government's intentions that a proper school meals service is an essential component in the larger, holistic approach to education.

We are enthusiastic about the changes and have embraced this opportunity to incorporate the new nutritional standards into our menus now to ensure that as many pupils as possible will adopt eating habits which are likely to improve their long term health and performance..."
